Dosage Guide For CBD

CBD Dosage Guide

The usage and therapeutic use of CBD oil are still in the infancy even cannot prescribe dosages as there is no recommended or universal dosage for everyone. It’s only been recent, that scientists and or medical professionals are starting to develop schedules for dosing for CBD and medical marijuana.

There is no recommended dose and most web pages when searching can only be intended as an informational guide or a starting point and is NEVER considered medical advice.

EVERY BODY is different!!

Body weight, metabolism, and countless other factors; even pain tolerance makes it impossible to prescribe and more often than not it is a rough estimate.  That is why we at Baja Hemp Co advise people new to CBD  to start with a certain dosage and from there a person can go increase or decrease based on how the individual feels.

From the research, I have done if you start out with the suggested dosage on the product and increase it until you find symptom relief.  CBD dosages and duration of the illness depends on exactly that and so many other factors.

The many ways to use CBD

Vape Cartridges

This is the fastest way to deliver CBD into your system (body and brain)  is through the lungs. Most vapes are sold prefilled in cartridges and come in a variety of strengths depending on your needs.

Sublingual (under the tongue) tinctures, extracts

All of these will have a suggested serving size however that is all it is a suggestion.  The rest of the directions are important to follow – like keeping the liquid under your tongue for 60 seconds. This gives it time to absorb into the blood vessels and bypassing the metabolism.

Including capsules, food and or gummy treats may take a while to work as it needs to go through the digestive system and usually provide a longer effect.   After ingestion can take up to 60 min to take effect and lasts 2-6 hours.

Transdermal Patch

A slow and steady release of CBD into the bloodstream, and may take hours to feel the effect but once it’s in you the relief is long lasting up to 96 hours in some cases depending on the brand.

Bypasses the liver metabolism and varies widely to factors of fatty tissue, skin temperature and varies with amount used. Great for inflamed joints and muscles and is long lasting.

Naturally treating Fibromyalgia

At BajaHempCo we are committed to natural health, not just pushing a product. Recently a new friend came to us with a very uncomfortable Fibromyalgia flare up. We recommend PlusCBD capsules, Xtend Caps, Balm and patches. This person chose capsules and we are hoping to hear that they worked wonders!

In case anyone else on our friends list is suffering from the same, I would like to share some other natural remedies to treat the pain and inflammation.

You want to try to get rid of all the toxins that you can in your body. Our first medicine is food.

These plants are great to detox and lower inflammation in the body:

Coconut & Coconut oil

Lemon skins

Papaya & its seeds

Sweet potatoes

Wild blueberries

Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs, with the ‘mother’)*

B-12 (methylated)

B-17 (apricot kernals, ONLY 1 per day)

Cats Claw

Camu Camu

Fish oil

Iodine (1drop a day)

Manuka honey*

Magnesium (capsules and topical spray as well as Epsom soaks)

Lemon Balm

Licorice root

*An easy way to take these is leaving them to marinate. Take a large glass jar and add Manuka and ACV. Dice or grate the ginger, garlic, turmeric and onion. Leave in the pantry and take a spoonful each day with water. Also make an ACV lemonade each day. Large glass of ice water with two limes, a drop of lemon EO and a spoonful of ACV.

Essential Oils:

Deep Blue (Oil and Balm)

What do I need to cut out of my diet to feel better?

Food dyes

Gluten (if you are sensitive)

Meats (unless organic and local)

Processed & packaged foods

I know it feels like a lot. What I do is make one change per week. You can even do every other week. So for example this week I can add Ginseng to my daily routine. Once I am in the habit of taking it daily, and I have observed how I feel while taking it, it’s now a part of my life. Now I can add Lemon Balm. Once Lemon Balm is in I can focus on cutting out dairy. And so on. Constantly move towards a state of optimal health.

Also, something to keep in mind. Oftentimes Fibromyalgia is a misdiagnosed case of Lyme disease. Make sure you don’t have Lyme as that will include a different treatment as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions and remember BajaHempCo is #naturallyhealing

High Times Magazine is a wealth of information on medical marijuana and CBD.

BJ Schmidt wrote an interesting article on the effects of THC and CBD together. How CBD can take the edge of paranoia and anxiety away from using THC as medication. This is great news for people that want the benefit of THC medicinally but do not want the effects of the “high” that goes along with it.

CBD & Parkinson’s

Evidence suggests that cannabis could potentially slow the progression of Parkinson’s by providing neuroprotective effects. The cannabinoids found in cannabis are able to suppress the excitotoxicity, glial activation and oxidative injury that cause the degeneration of the dopamine-releasing neurons. In addition, they improve the function of cell’s mitochondria and activation of cellular debris clearance, further encouraging neuron health 6,7,9,16.

Researchers have found evidence that one specific cannabinoid found in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), helps with  the treatment of Parkinson’s disease by assisting in the prevention of damage caused by free radicals and activating a receptor that encourages the formation of new mitochondria16.

Another major cannabinoid found in cannabis, cannabidiol (CBD), has also demonstrated its ability to support the health of neural cells mitochondria, causing the researchers to conclude that CBD should be considered as a potential therapeutic option in neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson’s because of its neuroprotective properties3,4.

Studies have also shown that cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system’s cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, to modulate the release of dopamine.13

Research also shows that cannabis can help patients with Parkinson’s disease manage their symptoms. One study observed that after smoking cannabis, Parkinson’s disease patients saw significant improvements in motor disability and impairments, tremors, rigidity, bradykinesia, sleep, and pain 8. Additional studies have confirmed cannabis’ ability to reduce bradykinesia and tremors6,7. Most recently, a clinical trial found that cannabis significantly reduced pain and motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease patients after 30 minutes11.

Significant improvements in well-being and quality of life scores were found in Parkinson’s disease patients that were given daily doses of CBD for one week1. One case study found that patients treated with CBD, though they didn’t see significant improvements in motor measures or general symptoms, experienced prompt and substantial reductions in the frequency of REM sleep behavior disorder events1. In one survey, despite only 4.3% of Parkinson’s disease patients responding that they used cannabis to treat their symptoms, it was ranked it as the most effective treatment option out of vitamins, prayer, massage, art therapy, music therapy and relaxation5. An anonymous questionnaire sent to patients with Parkinson’s disease found that 25 percent of 339 respondent’s had taken cannabis, with 45.9 percent of those reporting some type of benefit 14.

In addition, CBD may help with those Parkinson’s’ disease patients experiencing psychosis. Four weeks of CBD caused Parkinson’s disease patients with psychosis to experience a significant decrease in psychotic symptoms as evaluated by the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale and the Parkinson Psychosis Questionnaire17.

Why Are Cannabinoid Receptors Important?

Cannabinoid receptors play a vital role in our bodies; several vital roles, in fact. While the government likes to tell us that “stimulating our receptors” is bad for us, the truth is exactly the opposite. Let’s take a look at their history and why these receptors are so important.

CBD & Anxiety

Recent studies have confirmed that CBD can improve anxiety and stress in most individuals.  It has been studied in relation to:

  • Panic disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Social phobia
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Mild to moderate depression

5-HT1A agonist: 5-HT1A is a subtype of the serotonin receptor, which is important because anxiety and depression can sometimes be treated with medications that target the serotonin system. This is why drug companies developed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Prozac and Zoloft. SSRIs work by blocking reabsorption of serotonin in the brain, which increases the availability of serotonin in the synaptic space. This helps brain cells transmit more serotonin signals, which can reduce anxiety and boost mood in certain cases (although the full biological basis for this is more complicated and not fully understood).

Similar to SSRIs, CBD may boost signaling through serotonin receptors. In an animal study, Spanish researchers found that CBD enhances 5-HT1A transmission and may affect serotonin faster than SSRIs. Researchers noted:

“The fast onset of antidepressant action of CBD and the simultaneous anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) effect would solve some of the main limitations of current antidepressant therapies.”

Studies on Alzheimer’s & CBD

Alzheimer’ s  disease is very frightening and alarming, however,  new research is hopeful. And trials have begun for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease involving CBD and the body’s receptors.

Scientists believe that there is increasing evidence that the endocannabinoid system may be regulating the neurodegenerative processes.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s are age-related dementia associated with impairments in learning and memory accompanied by neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and neurodegeneration.

Over the past few years, there has been a growing interest in the therapeutic potential of medications that target the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Every day we are finding out more about the disease and how to prevent it, and possibly change the outcome. More research is becoming available with the research of CBD and this insidious disease.

CBD Dosing Guide

The first question that I often get asked is ” Can I take too much CBD oil”, NO you cannot overdose on CBD. according to CannLabs (the nations top testing lab),  there is no lethal dose. The reason for this is that the cannabinoid receptors are not located in the brain stem areas like opioid receptors controlling respiration  – lethal doses of cannabis and cannabinoids do not occur.  Once consumed, CBD acts with our bodies own endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis. (homeostat or regulator) It basically regulates the part that is not working well or ill.

The trick is to consistently take the recommended dosage and it begins to balance the nervous system, help with the inflammatory response. For a specific ailment, we advise playing with the dosage to find the perfect dosage for you.  It is best to basically saturate yourself with CBD which takes 1 week to 2 weeks to start taking effect in the body and it provides relief for your symptoms.  With any holistic healing, it sometimes is not a quick fix. I believe that we have been duped by the Pharma companies with the one pill fixes all attitude and if something does not work instantly we move onto the next product.

With any holistic healing, it sometimes is not a quick fix. I believe that we have been duped by the Pharma companies with the one pill fixes all attitude and if something does not work instantly we move onto the next product.

Stick with this regiment and play with the dosage. If one product is not strong enough please come and talk to us and we can help with providing a product with more CBD.
